Cambridge Criterium 101

Everything you need to know about the Cambridge Criterium

The 2024 Cambridge Criterium is a new festival of cycling in Cambridge city, taking place on Sunday 25 August.

Our aim is to bring professional cycle racing back to the UK’s cycling capital for the first time since the 2014 Tour de France. It’s a free-to-attend event with an open ride for the public on traffic-free roads, amateur and novelty races, and headline races for elite and professional cyclists.

There will be an event village on Jesus Green with street food vendors, music, corporate hospitality, and industry exhibition stalls to provide additional entertainment.

This event is based on the time-proven and incredibly successful criterium format, commonly used in Belgium and the Netherlands, but popular across the world for its spectator-focused racing and community celebrations.

The information on this page will be updated as we get closer to the event.

Getting to and from

  • If you live in Cambridge and are able, we recommend arriving by foot. This means you won’t need to look for a car or bike parking space.

This will also give you the most flexibility to visit different parts of the route and event village.

  • One of the easiest ways to get around Cambridge is on a bike!

We provide parking for up to 1,000 bicycles in the event village on Jesus Green.

  • If you need to drive, but don’t want to worry about parking, Cambridge has five Park & Ride sites that are easily accessible with free parking.

A return ticket is only £3.50 and you can use this ticket to hop on and off any Park & Ride bus all day.

You can find all the information on cambridgeparkandride.info

  • If you’re driving to the event, we recommend you plan your journey with the Park & Ride as the ‘final mile’. Trumpington and Madingley Park & Ride can be accessed directly from the M11, Milton Park & Ride via the A14.

  • Cambridge is a medieval city with a strong focus on active travel. For that reason, car parking in the city is limited and we recommend parking in the free Park & Ride car parks, then hopping on a bus into the city.

If you have to drive, you can park in the following paid car parks: The Grand Arcade; Queen Anne Terrace; Grafton East; Grafton West; Lammas Land, Castle Hill.

Team parking should be arranged with the organisers before the event.

Competitor parking details will be emailed prior to the event.

Please note, the Grafton West Car Park will be restricted for event use on the day.
